JOHANNESBURG, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez was named FIFA Man of the Match after scoring two goals in Argentina's 3-1 win over Mexico in Johannesburg on Sunday.

His first goal should have been disallowed as Tevez headed in the goal in a clear offside position.

But his second was arguably the goal of the tournament so far when he smashed an unstoppable shot into the top-right corner just outside the penalty area on 52 minutes.

Tevez was given a standing ovation from the 84,000 fans at Johannesburg's Soccer City Stadium when Argentina coach Diego Maradona substituted him with Juan Sebastian Veron in the 69th minute.
