BUENOS AIRES, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The coach of Argentine soccer club Arsenal, Jorge Burruchaga, resigned a day after the club's sixth straight game without a victory.

Burruchaga announced his decision on Friday, and the club immediately appointed assistant coach Carlos Ruiz as his replacement until the end of the season.

Arsenal has 18 points, 15 behind leaders Estudiantes. The club lost 2-0 on Thursday against Newell's Old Boys. Burruchaga is the ninth coach to resign or be fired this season.
