RIO DE JANEIRO, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The captain of the Brazilian soccer team Goias, Fernandao, expressed his excitement on Monday with the possibility to return to his former team, Internacional.
The 32-year-old was part of Internacional's 2006 Libertadores Cup championship team and helped them to win the World Championship of Club title the same year.
Fernandao returned to play in Brazil late last year after leaving the Middle East. Internacional had the opportunity to bring the team's idol back, however, the club's vice-president, Fernando Carvalho, did not seek out the talented striker.

Fernandao publicly expressed his disappointment in the lack of interest by Carvalho. Should Internacional advance to the 16 of the 2010 Libertadores Cup, the South American Confederation of Soccer permits the addition of three new for every respective team.
Sao Paulo attempted to attract the athlete earlier in the year, but Goias rejected any sort of deal.
"An offer from Internacional would be very attractive. I love that team. I consider their stadium as my second home. It was easy to play at Internacional because we share the same style of thinking and of seeing things," said Fernandao.
Carvalho maintains that Internacional are not looking to bring in any reinforcement at the time. Nevertheless, the vice-president stated that the doors at Internacional will always be open for Fernandao.
