Real Madrid has added to its squad during the January transfer window with the arrival of three new faces. Striker Jan-Klaas Huntelaar, as well as midfielders Dani Parejo and Lassana Diarra have joined the squad to give it more depth.
With the transfer market due to close at midnight on January 31and despite the assurance of new President Vicente Boluda that there would be no further transfer dealings until new elections for the presidency in July, there is speculation in the press that Real Madrid is still trying to sign a right winger to add some pace to the team.
Ramos, however, says if anyone does arrive, it will not be because he requested them.
"I have not asked for any footballer. I have spoken about a lot of things with the Director of Sport (Pedja Mijatovic) and the President, but I have not asked for anyone," said Ramos during his Friday press conference, which was reproduced on the club website.
"They know the squad and the level of the players that are here already. We are convinced that we can win any competition, even though we are a long way (12 points) off the top of the league table."
"These are the same players who won the league last year," said Ramos.
Nevertheless, he refused to rule out the arrival of reinforcements before the end Sunday night.
"While the market is open in football, anything can happen," he said.
