LIUZHOU - China defeated Singapore 7-1 on Tuesday in a Group F match of the AFC U-19 Championship in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Striker Tanyang put China 1-0 ahead in the 8th minute with a sharp low shot, before Zhang Chengdong doubled the lead on 19 minutes.
Kwok Fabian pulled one goal back in the 39th minute for Singapore, before Wang Liang rounded off the first half with a goal in the last minute.
Zhou Liao netted twice in the second half, while Wang Yunlong and Zhang Yuan each added a goal.
China coach Liu Chunming said he was very satisfied with his players' performance.
"The players felt a little bit nervous in the first half. After I gave some guidance during the break, they gradually got into form and scored more goals in the second half," he said.
"We will try our best to display an excellent performance in the following matches to qualify for the World Youth Championship, " added Liu.
China will play Malaysia on Thursday.
