BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- China has launched the second phase of a national language resources protection project. It aims is to promote standard written and spoken Chinese and protect dialects and languages of ethnic minorities, the Ministry of Education said on Monday.
More than 350 colleges, universities, and research institutions have participated in the project so far, involving over 4,500 professionals.
Initiated in 2015, it is the largest-scale project committed to language resources protection worldwide, said the Ministry. It listed some results of the project, including a 20-volume collection of classic Chinese-language culture.
The first phase of the project was completed in 2019 and covered 34 provincial-level regions in China.
