WUHAN, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The second flood of China's Yangtze River this year has smoothly passed the Three Gorges Dam on Sunday as the inflow into the reservoir has decreased.
The Three Gorges reservoir saw an inflow of 46,000 cubic meters per second at 8 p.m. Sunday, compared with a peak of 61,000 cubic meters per second, which appeared at 8 a.m. Saturday and lasted for 18 hours.
At 8 p.m. Sunday, the water level of the reservoir reached a record high of 164.18 meters during the flood season since the dam was built. Previously, its highest level was 163.11 meters.
According to the China Three Gorges Corporation, by 2:00 p.m. Sunday, the dam has accumulatively withheld 14 billion cubic meters of floodwater during the main flood season this year.
