BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- China's political advisors on Friday convened a bi-weekly consultation session to discuss ways to build better teams for the country's rural work.
"China should train more talented workers and officials that have a deep understanding of agriculture and an attachment to the countryside as well as farmers," said Wang Yang, chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, who presided over the meeting.
The political advisors agreed that while many practical policy measures had been rolled out to attract talented workers to rural areas, officials at the grassroots level were still insufficient, with improvement needed in team structures and quality.
They said institutional barriers dividing urban and rural areas should be removed, with incentives given to encourage university students and former military personnel to return to their hometowns for work.
They also suggested that overall plans should be made for the education and training of teams for rural work, while online training should be promoted to help rural officials become better-informed.
