RIGA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese naval fleet departed from the Freeport of Riga on Tuesday after a three-day friendly visit to Latvia.
The Chinese naval vessels started the visit to Riga last Saturday. During the visit, Yu Manjiang, commander of the Chinese naval fleet, met with Latvian high-ranking officials. Cadets of the Latvian National Defense Academy played a goodwill football match with Chinese naval seamen and paid a visit to one of the Chinese naval ships.
A reception for representatives of the National Armed Forces of Latvia, military attaches accredited in Latvia, as well as Chinese living in Latvia, has been held on board a naval vessel. Chinese seamen offered the guests the performance of traditional Chinese culture, including Peking Opera and ancient Chinese dance.
Yu said that the event showed the positive image of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, which was appreciated by Latvian officials and local residents.
