BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the Chinese mainland on Saturday reiterated its stance against Taiwan independence after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's phone talks with Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen.
An Fengshan, spokesperson for the office, said the Chinese mainland's adherence to the one-China principle and the position against Taiwan independence are steadfast.
"We are determined, confident and capable of containing Taiwan independence in any form and pushing forward the national reunification process," said An.
He quoted Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's remarks earlier Saturday that Tsai's call with Trump was "a little trick" by Taiwan which would not change the one-China consensus in the international community.
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump had phone talks Friday with Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen.
