BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang met with Khalid Hilal Al Ma'awali, chairman of the Consultative Council of Oman, on Wednesday.
Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), spoke highly of the development of China-Oman relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 38 years ago.
He said Oman is an important country in the Arab world and the Middle East, with special geopolitical advantages for the Belt and Road Initiative. The initiative also offers a new platform for bilateral cooperation.
Zhang said he hopes the two countries can strengthen political mutual trust, integrate their development strategies, expand people-to-people exchanges and cultural cooperation, and seek greater development of bilateral relations.
The NPC, China's top legislature, is ready to contribute to the development of bilateral ties with closer and more pragmatic cooperation, Zhang added.
Ma'awali echoed Zhang, saying the Consultative Council will enhance exchanges and cooperation with China to push forward bilateral cooperation in all areas.
