BEIJING, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao on Thursday met with a delegation of the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union headed by its president Masahiko Komura.
Citing the rough patch of China-Japan interactions in past several years, Li said the two countries should draw lessons from it.
Bilateral ties have improved in general in the past year yet the momentum is still weak, he said.
China is willing to forge ahead with the steady and healthy development of the relationship on the basis of four political documents between China and Japan and in the spirit of "taking the history as a mirror and looking forward to the future," said Li.
He called on Japan to make concerted efforts with China to properly solve relevant sensitive issues so as to contribute to the improvement of bilateral ties.
Komura said he hopes both countries could enhance cooperation in various areas in order to enhance friendship between Japanese and Chinese people and promote bilateral ties.
