BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang has said the government should ensure precision in bringing some minority groups from southwestern Yunnan Province out of poverty.
The vice premier visited Yunnan's minority groups that have entered socialist society directly from late primitive or slave societies from Saturday to Monday. They have lived in solitude for a long time and suffer extremely poor living conditions.
Wang met with people from the minority groups and handed out questionnaires to acquire detailed information on their production and living conditions and to discover the reason behind their poverty.
The local government should make targeted efforts to help all documented people out of poverty, and improve education and training to raise their own ability to shake off poverty, Wang said.
China aims to bring more than 70 million people above the poverty line before 2020.
