VIENNA, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- China on Saturday proposed a comprehensive ceasefire in Syria, calling on the international community to take united efforts to fight against terrorism in any form.
Overshadowed by the deadly attacks in Paris on Friday night, world major states and other regional powers gathered in Vienna to discuss the solution to end the ongoing crisis in Syria.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong told reporters that, under the current circumstances, the comprehensive ceasefire is needed, while the international community should jointly fight against terrorism in any form.
He also suggested any arrangements for political transitions in Syria should be based on the Geneva communique and conducted under the auspices of the United Nations.
He called for the strengthening of the international efforts in the humanitarian aid, vowing that China will take further measures in this regard.
