BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng met with former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda here on Friday.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), hailed the contribution made by Fukuda for the bilateral exchanges and wished the upcoming 11th Beijing-Tokyo Forum a success.
Fukuda was in Beijing for the forum, a non-governmental exchange platform for China and Japan. This year's forum would focus on how to achieve a long-term, healthy and stable development of the China-Japan relations.
Yu said economic cooperation was conducive to both countries but its basis should be political trust.
The huge market formed amid China's economic growth was opportunity for Japanese companies while the Chinese companies should learn from Japan's advanced technology, Yu noted.
Fukuda said he expected forum participants from both countries to fully exchange their views on how to improve China-Japan relations.
