BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China plans to offer emergency humanitarian aid to Chile to help disaster relief in the areas hit by a recent earthquake, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Monday.

The MOC has asked the China Embassy in Chile to establish what the country needs.

The MOC said it is making the assistance plan and will help Chile rebuild damaged homes.

According to Chile's National Office of Emergencies, at least 11 people were killed and nine others were injured when an earthquake measuring 8.4 on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday.
