BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday congratulated Australia's new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on his swearing-in, vowing to enhance China-Australia cooperation.
In his congratulatory message, Li expressed his high appreciation of the importance Turnbull attaches to China-Australia relations and his active support for bilateral cooperation, saying ties between the two important Asia Pacific countries now stand at a new starting point.
China stands ready to make joint efforts with the Australian side to make good use of the annual meeting mechanism between the two nations' prime ministers as well as the bilateral dialogue and exchange mechanisms in various fields, deepen mutual trust, expand bilateral cooperation and promote multilateral communication and coordination, so as to benefit the two peoples and boost regional development and prosperity, said Li.
