BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang met with Australia's Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Robb on Friday, pledging for an early implementation of the China-Australia free trade agreement signed two months ago.

Speaking highly of the significance of the landmark free trade agreement to the bilateral economic and trade cooperation, Wang called on both sides to work for the early implementation of the agreement so as to benefit both peoples and industries.

The Chinese and Australian governments signed the agreement in Canberra on June 17, freeing up trade between the two countries.

The historic agreement, signed by Robb and his Chinese counterpart, Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng, finalized negotiations that began ten years ago and followed the Declaration of Intent signed in November by the two countries' leaders, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
