BEIJING, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping on Monday urged leading officials to set good examples in the nation's drive to consolidate the rule of law.
Though small in number, such leaders are key to advancing the rule of law and they shoulder great responsibility in the campaign, Xi said while addressing a workshop on the topic.
It was attended by ministerial and provincial officials, including ministers, provincial Party chiefs and governors.
While praising their overall efforts in promoting the rule of law, Xi acknowledged that some leading officials have not been fulfilling their duties according to the law and that they have even bent the law for personal gain.
Xi said such official conduct has tarnished the Party's image, disrupting order in politics, the economy and society.
He stressed that all the Party organizations and officials must abide by the Constitution and laws.
