BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese security official Meng Jianzhu on Tuesday called for stronger cooperation with Turkey in combating terrorism, human trafficking and other cross-border crimes.
Meng, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with Mehmet Celalettin Lekesiz, chief of the Turkish National Police.
Meng urged the two countries to implement the consensus reached between their leaders while understanding and supporting each other on issues regarding each other's core interests and major concerns.
Mehmet said Turkey will never allow any organization or person to conduct activities harmful to China's interests on its soil, vowing to beef up law enforcement and security cooperation with China.
China and Turkey signed a cooperation agreement on combating cross-border crimes in 2000.
