BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- China expects to enhance its cooperation with Tajikistan in fighting terrorism and drug trafficking, and in border control, senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Wang Qishan said here Friday.
Wang, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during his meeting with visiting Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. He also hosted a formal dinner for Rahmon on behalf of President Xi Jinping.
China and Tajikistan have carried out substantial strategic cooperation, Wang said.
China expects the two countries to fully implement the five-year development plan for the bilateral strategic partnership, to step up cooperation in fighting the "three forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, curbing drug trafficking and tightening border control, Wang said.
China also firmly supports Tajikistan to choose a development path that fits its reality, Wang said.
Rahmon told Wang that Tajikistan cherishes the friendship with China and will stick to the bilateral strategic partnership.
He said Tajikistan also expects better coordination with China regarding border control and regional security.
