BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leader Liu Yunshan on Monday extended festival greetings to cultural workers across the country ahead of China's Lunar New Year, which falls on Jan. 31 this year.
Liu, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, visited several cultural icons in Beijing, including Feng Qiyong, famous scholar of Chinese masterpiece "A Dream of Red Mansions" and Feng Jian, former vice president of Xinhua News Agency.
Liu called on cultural workers to continue promoting advanced ideology and culture as well as mainstream values to provide positive energy for the country's ongoing reform.
Liu Qibao, head of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, also attended the activity.
