BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping commended soldiers of a submarine base for their fighting capacity and spirit of utter devotion.

Xi, also chairman of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Military Commission, said in a special instruction that submarine forces have demonstrated faith in the Party's command, fighting capacity to win battles, and willingness to sacrifice.

Vice Chairman Xu Qiliang of the Central Military Commission met Wednesday with representatives of the submarine forces and extended regards to them on behalf of President Xi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xu appreciated the troops' dedication and contribution to the development of China's nuclear submarines over the past 42 years.

Xu also called on the submariners to strengthen their fighting capacity to build powerful naval forces.
