BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Margaret Chan on Sunday.
During the meeting, Liu expressed appreciation to the WHO and Chan for their support and assistance in China's health service and health care system reform.
She pledged that China will continue to improve the basic medical security system and enhance the training of medical personnel, especially family doctors.
China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the WHO and make efforts to promote the health of Chinese and the people all over the world, Liu said.
Chan spoke highly of the Chinese government's efforts on the promotion of public health service, adding that the WHO would like to continue its cooperation with China.
