BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) Cao Jianming said Wednesday that more opinions should be collected from the public in order to boost the procuratorate's credibility.
Cao made the remarks at a symposium held to solicit opinions and suggestions from grassroots deputies to the National People's Congress, as well as members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Cao said the symposium was necessary for implementing the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s "mass line" guideline, as well as promoting democracy in the judicial system.
The CPC in June initiated a campaign to strengthen the "mass line," which refers to a guideline under which CPC officials and members are required to prioritize the interests of the people and persist in representing them and working on their behalf.
Cao said that since legislators and political advisors come from and represent the interests of the public, their opinions and suggestions regarding the judicial system reflect the concerns and wishes of the public.
He urged procuratorates at all levels to address the people's concerns, respond to their expectations and pay more attention to suggestions from legislators and political advisors in order to make the judicial system more accessible and improve its credibility.
Cao called for expanding channels used to solicit opinions from legislators and political advisors.
