KUNMING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and another eight were injured as a pickup rushed off the road and crashed into the roadside mountain on Friday afternoon in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The injured have been hospitalized, according to local authorities in the Simao District in the city of Pu'er, where the accident occurred at around 3:40 p.m.

Investigation is underway into the cause of the accident, local authorities said.
