BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The National Association of Vocational Education of China (NAVEC) marked its 95th anniversary of founding on Sunday.
Over the past 95 years, the NAVEC has played an important role in the country's vocational education field, Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said in a congratulatory letter to the association.
In his letter, Jia urged the association to make further efforts in the 12th Five-year Plan period (2011-2015) to contribute to the country's cause of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects.
Founded in 1917 by dozens of Chinese personages in educational and industrial fields, such as Huang Yanpei, Cai Yuanpei and Liang Qichao, the NAVEC now has a membership of over 33,000 individuals and 2,200 organizations.
Famous alumni of the vocational school under the association included mathematician Hua Luogeng and economist Gu Zhun.
