BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Wednesday China hopes the important consensus reached between China and Japan will be reflected in Japan's real policies.

It has been reported that Japan's Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda recently sounded a so-called "warning" about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's moves to step up its nuclear and missile programs and China's increased military build-up and maritime activities.

In response to a question at a regular press conference, Hong said, "I'm not clear in what consideration Prime Minister Noda made the remarks."

However, Hong said that he "clearly remembered" that Noda made it clear that China's development is an opportunity for Japan and the international community during his China tour last December.

The two countries have reached a consensus that they are partners and do not pose a threat to each other, and that they support each other's peaceful development, said the spokesman.
