The CPC had launched a campaign to educate its members to preserve their vanguard nature and a campaign to study and practice the scientific outlook of development.

The CPC Central Committee stuck to the mass line. In each of the past five years, Hu Jintao spent the Spring Festival with the general public and visited enterprises, urban communities, villages, and soldiers' residences.

Inner-party democracy guaranteed the Party's vitality for innovations. It has become an essential system that the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee shall report to, and be under supervision of, the CPC Central Committee. The standing committees of local Party committees shall also report to the local Party committees.

The fight against corruption was also a major task of the CPC.
