BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese version of the play "Ghetto" has embarked on a five-month performance tour across China this year.
Written and directed by Israeli playwright Joshua Sobol, the play is about the experiences of the Jews of the Vilna Ghetto during the Nazi occupation in World War II, which shows people's attitudes toward death in an extreme situation.
Premiered in 1984, the play has been staged in more than 25 countries in over 20 languages and was also adapted to a namesake film in 2006.
As one of Sobol's most famous work, it earned Sobol many awards including Israel's Best Play of the Year at David's Harp Award in 1984 and Israeli Theatre Award for a lifetime's achievement in 2009.
The round of this year's tour covered many cities in China such as Suzhou, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Beijing.
