SHENZHEN, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The Belt and Road International Music Festival will open in the city of Shenzhen, China's technological powerhouse, in southern Guangdong Province on March 24.
The three-week event will receive more than 800 musicians of 23 troupes from over 40 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, including Russia, Poland, Turkey, Indonesia and Thailand.
They are expected to stage 21 concerts for the citizens in Shenzhen. The Cleveland Orchestra from the United States, Germany's Freiburger Baroque Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra, U.S. jazz musician Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center will give performances.
Co-hosted by the government of Shenzhen and Chinese Musicians' Association, the festival aims to gather first-class art-troupes from countries and regions along the Belt and Road, and showcase the unique characteristics of their own music.
Audience are able to enjoy diverse types of music, including classic music, pop music, western as well as eastern style music.
More art activities, including lectures, will also be held in local universities and public venues during the festival, the organizer said.
The first Shenzhen Belt and Road International Music Festival took place in 2017.
