BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The Palace Museum is encouraging young people to come up with musical ideas to convey the connotations of ancient paintings in an event called "Singing Paintings."
The event, jointly initiated by the Palace Museum, Tencent Next Idea and QQ Music, "is a new approach to cultural innovation which integrates art, music, and technology, aiming to teach youth about the beauty of traditional art," said Shan Jixiang, curator of the museum.
The museum authorized 10 paintings from its collections to serve as sources of inspiration, including "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" and "Along the River During Qingming Festival," all of which are masterpieces of their dynasties.
The theme song for the event, which was inspired by "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" from Song Dynasty and sung by Jackson Yee, member of Chinese boy band TFBOYS, was released Wednesday.
The music inspired by the paintings will be included in a digital album and promoted across all platforms through QQ music.
