BEIJING, Dec.15 (Xinhuanet) -- The red carpet has been rolled out for the world premiere of the new and much-anticipated "Star Wars" movie in Los Angeles.
Police have closed Hollywood Boulevard ahead of the premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre, where the original movie opened in 1977.
Fans have been gathering outside three cinemas for the premiere release since last week.
They were told that they must spend at least 24 hours to be eligible to buy a pair of tickets, and another 24 hours to buy one more.
Though several trailers have been released, the plot of the film has been shrouded in secrecy.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is set 30 years after the return of the Jedi.
It also brings back characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will open across North America this Friday.
The film will also come to China on January 9th.
