SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Famous Indian film star Sharukh Khan Monday reached restive Indian- controlled Kashmir for his Hindi-film shooting, officials said.
Khan, on reaching the airport in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, boarded a chopper and flied 100 km south to famous tourist destination Pahalgam.
"Khan reached here in connection with his film shooting in the village Aru," said a police officer posted in Pahalgam town over telephone. "The film crew had already reached here two days before and was visiting the possible locations for shooting the scenes."
Khan, according to officials, was in Ladakh province of the region for shooting of this yet to be named Bollywood film, and is reported to be playing the role of an army officer in the film.
Security was beefed up near the locations Khan visited, police said.
Prior to the 1989 armed insurgency in India-controlled Kashmir, the region was a favorite with the Indian film industry for its scenic locations.
