NEW DELHI, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Bollywood's legendary character actor A.K. Hangal passed away at a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 95.
"This is really a sad thing. Now I am left all alone. I have no words to describe his loss. He was a strong man... he has been a great support to me," his son Vijay told media.
The veteran actor, famous for playing cameo roles in Bollywood films in his career spanning over five decades, was admitted to the Asha Parekh Hospital in Mumbai almost a week back with a fracture on his thigh bone.
His condition soon became critical and he died this morning, a doctor said.
Hangal, who participated in India's struggle for freedom in the 1940s, took to acting after he crossed the age of 40. He had acted in over 200 films, including blockbusters like 'Sholay' and 'Namak Haram'.
