The movie's China opening was second only to its opening in Russia, where lead actor Johnny Depp made an appearance for the premiere.
The "Caribbean" film made a good start for other Hollywood blockbusters that will follow in China this summer, including "Kung Fu Panda 2" (on May 28), "Transformers 3" (in July), and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" (in July), the long-awaited finale of the popular series.
