SINGAPORE, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's inaugural international film event ScreenSingapore will feature new film of Tom Hanks, "Larry Crowne," organizers said Tuesday.
The Asia Pacific premiere has been scheduled at the week-long event's closing night gala on June 11 at the newly refurbished Lido Theater on Orchard Road.
The film tells the story of an everyday guy's personal re- invention after he loses his job during the recession. The two- time Academy Award winner has directed, co-written and co-starred the film with actress Julia Roberts.
The remaining line-up of stars and films remains unconfirmed, but organizers said the event will open with a Chinese film, and also feature a Bollywood night.
The ScreenSingapore will be different from a film festival in that it is a business-to-business, government-to-government show.
Universal Pictures will release "Larry Crowne" in North America on July 1, 2011. The Shaw Organization has acquired the distribution rights for Singapore and will release the film here on July 28.
