BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The famous talent show "American Idol" lowered its age limit to 15 years old, according to news reports on Tuesday.

According to AP, the age to compete for the 10th season of the singing talent show would be from 15 to 28, with its minimum age lowered by one year to 15.

"A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16," said "American Idol" producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz.

Reuters reported that season 10's auditions would begin in six U.S. cities, beginning in next month.

Fox's "American Idol" has been one the most popular TV shows in the U.S. over the past decade.
