BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. Pop singer Whitney Houston is suffering from a respiratory infection, according to U.S. media reports Tuesday.
The illness has forced the 46-year-old singer to cancel a concert in Paris, said the concert's organizers said.
"Whitney is suffering from an upper respiratory infection and after a consultation with her doctors has been advised to postpone her performance," said a statement from the concert's organizers. "Whitney and her band apologize that the show has to be rescheduled on such short notice."
The Paris concert, at the Paris-Bercy arena, was reported to be the first date in a European tour, the orgnizers added, saying a new date for Paris will be announced shortly.

But the next concert in the tour, in Manchester, UK on April 8, was still set to go ahead, said organizers.
Houston's "Nothing but Love" world tour began in South Korea in February with the singer performing in Japan then Australia.
Her performance in Australia was attacked by some critics, even her fans walked out of her concerts, complaining "she was off key, out of breath, and looked exhausted."
Her publicist Kristen Foster denied Houston was having health problems and insisted she was in great health and having a "terrific time on her tour and with her fans."
Houston is set to tour Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland by June.
