BEIJING, Nov. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will share their duty to co-host the 82nd Oscars next year, according to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Wednesday.

Next year's Academy Awards will take place on Sunday March 7 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

Actor Steve Martin gestures before presenting Tommy Smothers with a commemorative Emmy award at the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles Sept. 21, 2008.

"I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin," Martin, who hosted the ceremony solo in 2001 and 2003, said in a statement. The veteran funnyman, 64, was nominated for an Emmy for his funny job hosting the 73rd Academy Awards in 2001. He was most recently seen playing Inspector Clouseau in a "Pink Panther" remake.

Actor Alec Baldwin from NBC's television series "30 Rock" arrives at the 66th annual Golden Globe awards in Beverly Hills, California Jan. 11, 2009

"I don't play the banjo but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars—it's the opportunity of a lifetime," said Baldwin, 51, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2003 for his performance in "The Cooler" and just collected his second straight Emmy for being freak and hilarious on "30 Rock."

"We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars," show producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic said.
