CAIRO, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The 19th Cairo International Film Festival for Children opened here on Sunday with the theme of violence against children.

    The U.S. film "Igor" directed by Tony Leondis was screened at the opening ceremony that was held at Cairo Opera House.

    Over 300 feature films, animation and TV programs from more than 50 countries and regions will be screened during the children's film festival, the only one in the Middle East.

    A number of symposiums on children and children's films will also be held on the sidelines of the film festival, according to the organizing committee.
