BBC在线收听下载:美国一男子两次感染新冠第二次“更严重”!
日期:2020-10-14

Hello, I'm Neil Nunes with the BBC News.

President Trump has held his first election rally since testing positive for the coronavirus less than two weeks ago. In an energetic hour-long appearance, Mr. Trump told an enthusiastic crowd in Florida that he was now in perfect shape and immune to the disease. We have made America wealthy again. We have made America strong again. We have made America proud again. And we will make America safe again. And we will make America great again. Thank you, Florida. Thank you very much. Thank you.

There was no sign of social distancing at the venue in the city of Sanford and many people didn't wear masks. With three weeks until polling day, Mr. Trump's election rival Joe Biden remains ahead in the polls. He's been addressing car workers in the state of Ohio, which Mr. Trump won in 2016. As a consequence of months of overwhelming line, misleading, irresponsible action on the part of Donald Trump, how many empty chairs we're gonna be around the dinner table tonight?Because of their negligence. How many brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, moms, dads are gone?Folks, we are so much better than this.

President Trump's nominee for the supreme court, Amy Coney Barrett, has told the first day of a Senate confirmation hearing that she will approach cases based on the law, not her personal values. A Roman Catholic and a staunch Conservative, Mrs. Barrett, told the Judiciary Committee that a judge must apply the law as it was written not as she wanted it to be written.

Researchers in the United States have reported the country's first confirmed case of coronavirus reinfection. Writing in the journal Lancet infectious diseases, they say the 25-year-old man symptoms were much more serious the second time round. Our health and science correspondent James Gallagher has more details. There have been more than 37 million cases of coronavirus and only a handful of proven reinfections. This patient in Nevada developed a cough in March and tested positive. He fully recovered and had two negative tests in May. But then he tested positive for COVID again. This time his symptoms were more severe and he needed oxygen therapy in hospital. An analysis of the coronavirus' genetic code from each bout of COVID showed the patient did catch the virus twice. The researchers said people could not assume they were protected after an infection.
